COVID Testing & Mask Policy update

The Department of Health and Human Services’ federal Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 will expire May 11, 2023. As cases, hospitalizations and test positivity rates in North Carolina continue to decline, Tryon is making changes to our related policies and procedures.

Our COVID testing clinics in Matthews and Gastonia will close after Friday, March 31, 2023.

As of April 1, 2023:

  • All patients, sick and well, will be seen in our regular clinic locations moving forward.
  • Virtual visits will continue to be an option for all patients, including those who’ve tested positive for COVID within the past five days.
  • Masks are still recommended, but as of April 1 are optional for patients without respiratory symptoms.
  • You will still be required to wear a mask AT ALL TIMES if you have a cough, a stuffy or runny nose, are sneezing or show other signs of respiratory infection.
Remember, that getting the COVID vaccine and keeping up with booster shots are still the best protection against serious COVID infection!

While Tryon is no longer offering the COVID vaccine, they are easy to find. Schedule an appointment with your nearest CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Harris Teeter, Costco, Publix, neighborhood pharmacy or the North Carolina Health Department to get yours.
