TRYON MEDICAL PARTNERS OPEN SECOND COVID-19 REMOTE TESTING CLINIC TODAY AT 1:00 PM

CHARLOTTE — Tryon Medical Partners announced today they are opening their second remote Covid-19 testing location for their patients at 1:00 PM at 900 East Morehead Street at a location that was formerly Art’s Barbecue Restaurant. Tryon’s first Covis-19 testing clinic was opened March 17 at 630 Matthews Township Parkway. Both clinics are staffed by Tryon’s doctors and medical professionals and operate from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.

“With a Covid-19 reporting lag of 9 days (generally 5 days incubation and 4 days to test and receive results), I am sure that the current U.S. count of 85,000 cases vastly under- estimates the reach of this virus,” said Dr. Dale Owen, CEO of Tryon and a cardiologist with the practice. “North Carolina is fortunate to have significantly fewer cases that New York, and we still have an opportunity to ‘starve’ the virus by stepping up our social dis- tancing an quarantine efforts — but everyone must change their daily routine to stop this virus.”

“If you are a patient of Tryon Medical Partners and have significant Covid-19 symptoms, call your doctor for an assessment and they will schedule you for testing at one of our two remote clinics. You first will be tested for the flu, and then Covid-19 if necessary. If you have minor symptoms, stay at home under quarantine and stay in regular contact with your doctor to discuss next steps,” Owen added.

Tryon is the Charlotte region’s largest primary care medical practice, serving more than 130,000 patients, or roughly 15 percent of the region’s population.

Both clinics feature testing patients in their vehicle only (not in buildings) and the nec- essary medical protective equipment to minimize the risk of contamination and spread- ing the virus.

If someone is not a patient and wants to be seen at one of the remote clinics, they first must register with the medical practice.

Patients can join Tryon Medical Partners by calling 704-495-6334. Tryon Medical Partners accepts all major medical insurance carriers.

Tryon leaders will coordinate their Covid-19 response and take direction from the North Carolina Division of Health and Human Services and Mecklenburg County’s public health officials.

According the the federal Center for Disease Control, symptoms of Covid-19 may appear two to 14 days after exposure and include fever, cough and shortness of breath.

The following are some key things people can do to avoid Covid-19:

  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Avoid touching your face or mouth with your hands.
  • Wash your hands often. Use soap and water for 20 seconds or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60%-95% alcohol.
  • Clean your hands before eating, after using the bathroom and after coughing or sneezing.
  • Clean surfaces that are often touched like doorknobs and phones.
