The Importance of Monitoring Your Blood Pressure

A blood pressure reading is a measurement that checks for the force of blood against the walls of your arteries. The top number is your systolic pressure and measures the force as your heart beats. The bottom number is your diastolic pressure and measures the force between heartbeats when the heart is being refilled with blood.

What is a normal blood pressure?

Typically we prefer your blood pressure to be < 140/90, and if you have certain medical conditions then we prefer this to be even lower.
