Dr. Robert “Bob” Brownlee represents the best of modern physician leadership: a trusted clinician, a visionary founder, a collaborative executive, and a steadfast advocate for keeping patients and physicians at the heart of healthcare.

During Dr. Brownlee’s tenure as a founding physician and now President, Tryon Medical Partners has grown to serve more than 200,000 patients, broadened its footprint into Union County, and enhanced access to comprehensive care through new services and specialties, including Mohs surgery and sports medicine. His hands-on involvement in practice growth, physician recruitment, partnership development, and care model design ensures that every strategic decision remains rooted in the needs of patients and clinicians.

Dr. Brownlee is a passionate champion of the physician-led, professionally managed model, believing that the strongest healthcare organizations are built when physicians and operational leaders work in true partnership. Working alongside Tryon Management Group CEO Lindsay Muns, he has helped create a culture where clinical insight drives organizational strategy, operational excellence supports exceptional care, and physicians remain empowered to shape the future of medicine.

His commitment to excellence extends well beyond the executive suite. As Chair of Tryon’s Clinical Governance Board, Dr. Brownlee leads a peer-elected group of physicians responsible for maintaining clinical quality, advancing physician recruitment, and protecting the standards of excellence that define Tryon. He has also championed operational improvements, including redesigning referral and access workflows to improve the patient experience and make high-quality care more accessible.

Dr. Brownlee has earned national distinction as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and was recognized in 2023 among the organization’s Most Nominated physicians, reflecting the extraordinary respect he has earned from his peers. That credibility as a clinician makes him a uniquely effective leader for the physicians he represents and the patients he serves.

What distinguishes Dr. Brownlee is his belief that healthcare works best when the people closest to patients have a meaningful voice in how care is delivered. At a time when healthcare continues to face unprecedented change and consolidation, he has remained a powerful advocate for independent, physician-led care in Charlotte.

Through vision, humility, and an unwavering commitment to clinical excellence, Dr. Brownlee has spent his career proving that when physicians lead, patients benefit.
