Dr. Kimberly D. Houghton joins our Gastroenterology team in September. We’re excited to welcome her to our Ballantyne location.
Dr. Houghton Says:
“As a child, I initially wanted to be a veterinarian as I love animals, especially dogs and horses. However, after volunteering at the age of 16 at the Arizona Humane Society, I realized that I couldn’t handle the euthanasia of animals for no other reason other than not being owned and loved by someone. At that time, I decided to pursue human medicine, and I am the first physician in my family.
I chose gastroenterology because I love working with my hands in combination with thinking critically about an organ system which I feel is relevant to everyone at some point in their lives, whether they have irritable bowel syndrome or are just getting their screening colonoscopies!. I enjoy establishing longitudinal relationships with my patients and helping them to improve their quality of life, whether it involves lifestyle modification or aggressive biologic medication to treat inflammatory bowel disease.
I joined Tryon Medical Partners because I wanted to be a part of a collaborative multispecialty practice that would allow me to treat gastrointestinal disease as well as help me to optimize the quality of life of my patients by providing top-notch care in multiple areas of expertise.
My husband and I relocated with our three young children (and golden retriever) from Anchorage, Alaska, where I practiced for seven years, and we are excited to explore everything that Charlotte has to offer! I am an avid sports fan and enjoy creative pursuits when I have the opportunity, but most of all I love spending time with my family.”
