COVID-19 evaluation and testing for Tryon patients

COVID-19 testing appointments are for established Tryon patients ONLY.

Tryon is scheduling appointments for COVID-19 evaluation and testing outside the Gaston and Matthews offices. (Remember, those exhibiting symptoms will be evaluated by a Tryon clinician, which may result in a fee.)

If you are symptomatic, please wait to test until you have had symptoms for at least 24 hours. COVID-19 symptoms include cough, congestion, sore throat, runny nose, fever, shortness of breath, headache and loss of smell or taste.

If you develop symptoms, isolate immediately and get tested. Continue to stay home until you know the results. Wear a well-fitted mask around others.

When should you test?

  • Vaccinated persons who have been exposed should wear a mask around others for ten days, and get tested on Day Five after exposure, if possible. (The date of your exposure is considered Day Zero. Day One is the first full day after your last contact with a person who has had COVID-19.)

  • Unvaccinated persons who have been exposed should stay home for five days. After that they should continue to wear a mask around others for five additional days. Test on Day Five, if possible.

  • Unvaccinated individuals should be tested one to three days before and three to five days after travel.

For more information, read “When to test” by Dr. Jennifer Womack, or refer to updated COVID-19 testing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
